The stimulus for this week's writing came from the outstanding Literacy Shed. The children were shown the film "Powerless- A Modern Day Pinochio" which can be found in the Inspiration Shed. In the  film a man builds a robot.  Whilst he is asleep some strange beings power up his robot who mysteriously comes to life . The class created a story board and wrote a story based on the film.

I have added criterion scale sheets and APP criteria to help with background information on levels.

Criterion Scale Level 2

Criterion Scale Level 3

Criterion Scale Level 4

APP Writing levels 2 and 3

  1. I would level this piece as 2a. However There are elements that would suggest to me it is nearly a level 3 such as including details to interest the reader. There is some ambitious vocabulary included and some good use of connectives. The length and lack of a range of punctuation lets it down. There are also capital B and P within sentences. It starts really well but lacks an ending...

    1. Thanks for commenting (twice!) Claire. The minute I posted the work I avoided trying to find a level because I was finding it hard agin. I am glad to still have you on board this term.

  2. I have found this hard. I feel like I am back to square one and that with a borderline piece of writing its going to be tricky. I think the use of adjectives is limited and there is little variety in sentence openings. The start is stronger and basic punctuation is accurately used and tenses are consistent. I have thought 3C but I avoided going first (!!!) so thank you Claire.I struggled to to find 7 of the criterion scale features so I do think perhaps as beginning of term starting point assessment 2a/very close to 3c is fair.
